Getting To Know Makeup Brushes

A newbie in makeup? Don’t worry! We’ve all been there. If you want to know which brushes you should start with first, then here are my recommendations.

Foundation Brush
The foundation brush is a large flat brush that helps you apply your foundation or tinted moisturizer.
You can use fingers for applying foundation but having a brush makes things easier and less messy on your hands. Using a sponge is good, too, but it tends to suck up your product so it wastes your pricey foundation.

The stipple brush is a good foundation brush, too, as it buffs into your skin – allowing you to have a much more airbrushed look. It lets you apply foundation easier and faster, too.
Powder Brush
The powder brush allows you to apply, well, powder. Powder after foundation allows the foundation to be sealed in and to last longer.
A kabuki brush is a small brush that has dense and fluffy bristles, allowing more natural-looking coverage. It is smaller so it is much convenient to carry around. It is also able to replace the foundation brush, powder brush, blush brush, and mineral powder brush – saving you money. A flat top kabuki brush is also available.
Blush Brush
The blush brush is smaller compared to the powder brush, allowing you to have a much more controlled application especially for contouring. But you can avail a contour brush for contouring if you really want to dedicate your blush brush for just blush.
A tapered blush brush can be availed, too, for easier contouring. The blush brush takes on color so it is not ideal to use as powder brush at the same time (unless you want to look very red or very brown lol).

Eyeshadow Brush
It allows you to apply eyeshadow. You may also use an eyeshadow sponge but a brush does not suck up product.
Concealer Brush
It helps you apply concealer for covering up unwanted blemishes easily. It can also serve as a smaller eyeshadow brush which is very helpful for creating smoky eyes.
Blending Brush
It helps you blend out your make up and remove harsh lines, creating a much smoother and more sophisticated look. This is perfect for creating smoky eyes.
Small Angle Brush
The smallest one can help you apply gel liner easier in case you don’t like the free gel liner brush that comes along your pot. It can also help you apply shadow to your pencil liner (for sealing it in and lasting longer) or liquid liner (to have a matte/non-glossy liner look). It may also be used for shadow that will be filled into your eyebrows.
Brow Brush
The 2-in-1 brow brush is much convenient to have. The eyebrow brush is, of course, for your brow while the comb may be used to smooth out your brow hair. The comb may also be used for your lashes when you apply mascara unto the comb. The comb may also be used for taming baby hair when you want a sleek looking brushed-up ponytail. Just lightly spritz your favorite hairspray on it then brush onto your baby hair.
Lip Brush
This is only advisable if you want a very precise lip application or if you will apply lipstick to many people (for hygienic purposes).
